Owning a Miniature Musical Instrument

The definition of a miniature musical instrument is rather obvious; it is simply a smaller version of a full-sized instrument. There are as many varieties of miniature instruments as there are the regular sized instruments.

Of course, collecting and buying a miniature musical instrument isn't for everyone, but if you are curious, you can find a plethora of these items online. It is rather intriguing looking at all those tiny, perfect miniatures of larger instruments. From research on the Internet, it does not look like any of the miniatures actually play; they are primarily for collecting and displaying.

Starting a Miniature Collection

Finding a miniature musical instrument to start your collection is really rather easy. Many different varieties can be found online at reasonable prices. If you search for miniature musical instrument' online, you will find lots of different web pages selling a variety of miniatures.

Generally there are three different materials that a miniature musical instrument will be made out of. These are plastic, wood and metal. The instruments that are metal in their full sizes, such as tubes or other horns, can be found in both plastic and metal. The higher quality ones will be made out of metal, while cheaper versions can be found in plastic also.

The third material, wood, can be found in a fairly good quality miniature musical instrument. Of course, the only such miniature you will find made out of wood is one that is a miniature of a regular sized wooden instrument. These can include guitars, violins or any member of the string family.

One final category of a miniature musical instrument is those that are used chiefly as Christmas decorations. Often around Christmas time, you can find packages of cheap, plastic Christmas ornaments that can be of varying quality, but not exactly something you would want to start a collection with. They will have holes at the top for hanging on the Christmas tree and are generally of much lower quality than a collectible miniature musical instrument.
